As I shared last Sunday, Jairus needed a miracle—for his daughter to be raised from the dead. But there were people in his house who weren’t in agreement with who Jesus was and His power to bring that incredible transformation. They were the mourners, the mockers, and the doubters. So Jesus threw them out of the house! Then He brought in Peter, James, and John, plus Jairus and his wife. Jesus said to the little girl, “Get up!” And she was literally raised back to life!
As I read over this scripture this phrase jumped out at me, “Get Out to Get Up.” It’s just a catchy way to remember this truth. Sometimes in order to have our miracle arise, in order for that which is dead in our lives to “get up” and come back to life, we must do like Jesus and throw certain things out! That might mean marginalizing relationships with those who are our mockers and doubters—people who aren’t in agreement for the miracle God wants to perform—and allowing people of faith to have a greater role. It also can mean throwing out our own thoughts of doubt, negativity, and mourning that we’ve kept housed in our minds. We can’t keep coming into agreement with death over that which God really wants to be alive!
God wants to do a miracle for you and your family! You’ve invited His Son into the house of your heart much like Jairus. Now it’s time to get your house in order by doing some more decluttering. Your miracle moment, your resurrection may depend on it! Tell those things to GET OUT so you can GET UP!
